Mission Sustainability & Renewal Fund
The Mission Sustainability & Renewal Fund provides project-based support to arts and activism groups, with a focus on their long-term health and adaptability.
The fund supports organizations and their leaders to engage in a variety of short-term projects such as staff training, wellness, capacity building consultancies, organizational development projects, technology or musical instrument upgrades, digital security and organizing infrastructure, and organizational sustainability projects that fortify their leaders and strengthen their nonprofit.
This fund invests in the long-term health, resilience, and adaptability of community arts and activism organizations, recognizing that enduring social change is built on the capacity and well-being of the people and institutions driving it.
We support leaders and organizations through engagements that strengthen their ability to sustain campaigns, deepen impact, and navigate the challenges inherent to mission-driven work. Organizations with a prior history with the Foundation will be prioritized, though new organizations are also welcome to apply, particularly those working on significant campaigns or at critical junctures in their long-term work
Eligible projects may include leadership and staff development, wellness and mental health initiatives, strategic planning, technology and musical instrument upgrades, digital security efforts, organizing infrastructure training, financial management, strategic partnerships/mergers and other capacity-building consultancies. Applicants are encouraged to submit project details, documents, or work plans that may include technology plans and supply lists, musical instrument upgrade efforts and purchase orders, and consultant workplans and budgets. Grants range from $10,000 to $20,000, awarded once within a twenty-four month period. Funding will only be disbursed to organizations, not individuals.
Organizations that receive Mission Sustainability and Renewal funding must complete their proposed project before seeking support from any other Foundation funding stream. We see this not as a limitation, but as an invitation to go deep and to take the time and space needed to truly strengthen your organization's capacity before returning to the broader work of community change.
